If you’re into exploring new places but are trying to stay on budget this travel hack might just be the trick for you. It’s obviously super cool getting to visit attractions in different cities like museums, aquariums, distilleries, and I mean the list goes on…but sometimes it could get just a little too pricey especially when you have kids. Who else can relate?
One thing I love doing that could be a money saver for you and your travel group is just getting “lost in the city”. Take a day from your vacation week and spend the time walking the city- no agenda just explore. In some cities like New York and Philadelphia this is perfect! There is so much sight seeing you can do with little to no cost to you and it’s the best way to really take it all in. Just choose a direction and go, I promise there will be something new to see and experience!
This also works for destinations that aren’t so city like, as well. I spent my childhood Christmas vacations visiting Gatlinburg, TN with my family and one of my favorite memories was driving through the mountains and taking in all the amazing mountain views covered in snow. My other highlights were visiting the “city” called ‘The Village’- this place had the best candy shop, and all sorts of fun little places to visit and pick up a souvenir (although my favorite souvenir was probably the fudge lol).
